In a roof reconstruction, the main risk is not limited to the final covering. The new roof must connect the load-bearing structure, concrete edge elements, vapour barrier, thermal insulation, secondary water protection, ventilation and sheet-metal details into one system.

to the new structure.
The gallery shows the actual existing condition, the opening of the roof and the installation of the new timber structure on an existing stone house.
Why sequence matters
A roof is not repaired layer by layer.
It must work as a system.
Each layer has a different function, but one failed junction can compromise the entire roof.
The vapour barrier, thermal insulation, roof membrane, ventilated layer and covering work together. Penetrations, the roof window, ridge, edges and sheet-metal junctions therefore have to be resolved before the next phase conceals them.

The scope was defined as one connected reconstruction, with every phase checked before it was covered by the next layer.
New structure and protective layers
New timber roof structure, vapour barrier, 10 cm stone wool and a vapour-permeable, waterproof roof membrane.
Covering and finishing details
Boarding, battens and counter-battens, canal roof tiles, ridge and finishing elements, flashings, gutters, ridge ventilation and installation of the roof window supplied by the client.
